FAQ
Which certification do I need to sell my products in the UAE or Saudi Arabia?
It depends on the product category and destination market. Regulated products in the UAE require ECAS or EQM certification from MoIAT, while Saudi Arabia requires SABER/SQM registration under SASO technical regulations. Products covered by GSO technical regulations, such as toys or low-voltage electrical equipment, need the G-Mark for the entire Gulf region. Our team will assess your product and indicate the applicable scheme.
Is IMQ an accredited Notified Body for Gulf certification schemes?
Yes. IMQ is a recognized Notified Body for ECAS/EQM (MoIAT, NB-0023), an accepted Certification Body for SASO SABER/SQM (P-CB 0294), and a Notified Body for the GSO G-Mark scheme (NB-0067). This allows us to manage your certification end-to-end, with the credibility of a leading European certification body.
How long does the certification process take?
Timelines vary by scheme and product. ECAS certificates are typically issued within 1–2 weeks once complete documentation and valid test reports are available, while G-Mark and SQM projects involving testing or factory audits may take several weeks. We provide a clear timeline at the offer stage and keep you updated throughout the process.
Can you use my existing test reports, or is new testing required ?
In many cases, existing test reports issued by ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories against the applicable standards (e.g. IEC, GSO) can be accepted, provided they are recent (maximum validity 3 years) and cover the required requirements.
What happens after my certificate is issued?
Certificates have a defined validity period and may require annual surveillance or renewal, depending on the scheme. We monitor expiry dates and notify you in advance, and we support you in maintaining compliance when regulations or standards change, so your market access is never interrupted.
